NO matter what exhibit Newcastle Regional Museum guide Colin Snedden showed his charges, there was never a dull face.

Mr Snedden found everyone was responsive to the displays and interactive shows he guided them through in his 20 years as a volunteer at the museum.

Mr Snedden has been there every week since it opened 20 years ago, including the first day and has firm plans to go to tomorrow's closing festivities.

But he will not be feeling too nostalgic or too sad when the museum takes its enforced two-year break.

He is looking forward to the museum relocating and being redeveloped to become a modern institution at Honeysuckle Railway Workshops in December 2009.

"I'm keen to see what exciting and interesting things they have planned for the museum," Mr Snedden said.

The museum will have free family activities and entertainment tomorrow from 10am to 3pm and the museum will be open until 5pm.
