A GROUP of artists who run their own life drawing classes have produced works inspired by the human form, and will showcase their pieces in the Life on Flinders exhibition from next Friday.

"We're a group - we don't have a teacher," said Bev Ring, one of the artists who attends the drawing sessions held at Lever's Art Studio on Flinders St.

"We just gather every Tuesday morning for three hours to nurture each other's creativity.

"People do drawings or watercolour while they're in the group.

"They then use that to develop some painting or sculpture, which is what will eventually be on exhibit." Ms Ring hopes the exhibition will attract people from the area, and is confident life drawing holds enough appeal to ensure a good turnout.

"There are 30 of us exhibiting and we've all got a space - they'll all be very different works and mediums," she said.

"Life drawing is a traditional style - back to Da Vinci and the great masters of the Renaissance. There won't be any full-frontal males, that's the only stipulation - because some people with children might object."

The Life on Flinders exhibition opens next Friday from 7pm at the Old Courthouse in Belmore Basin, Wollongong.
